Our principal exercise physiologist, Matt has been heavily involved in the health and fitness industry at a number of levels for almost a decade. Matt played Rugby Union at state level for many years as a junior, competed at national level as a swimmer, and competed at state level in athletics. While studying his Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Deakin University, Matt operated a successful business as a personal trainer and as strength and conditioning coach for the Northern Knights in the TAC cup football competition, and Melbourne Vicentre and EC Waves swimming clubs. Matt has also drawn experience working with AFL club Melbourne FC.
Matt’s current passion is in helping people become involved in their own health and the health of others. As an exercise physiologist that involves utilising his experience to develop safe and effective exercises and lifestyle modification programs for clients. Matt operates under the the maxim: “exercise involves understanding why you do what you’re doing.” Matt strives to educate and provide the resources necessary for maximising health, form, and function for all clients.
It is this belief in conveying “the why of exercise” that has led Matt to teach into several anatomy, physiology, and exercise prescription subjects at Deakin University since 2010. Matt is currently completing his PhD in the field of Exercise Physiology.
